Sharon Freyaldenhoven (SF): When Rudolph’s nose won’t light on Christmas Eve, Santa’s elves must do some fast thinking to get him in the air with his toys.

DP: What made you want to write your book? 

SF: Thinking about how children love Santa Claus and unicorns, the words just spilled out.

DP: How long did it take you to write your book?

SF: It actually only took about two days.

DP: How do you ch

oose the names of your characters?

SF: The character names came from my inspiration.

DP: What do you do when you have writer’s block?

SF: Listen to people, watch people, ask questions.

DP: What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

SF: When the elves tell the story of finding the unicorn.

DP: If you were stuck on an island and had to have one pe

rson from each

category with you, who would they be and why? 

DP: One character from your book:  

SF: Santa, of course

DP: One fictional character: 

SF: Dare I repeat myself….

DP: One famous person:

SF: Really? Let’s say it all together…Santa Claus!

DP: Besides writing, what are your other interests? 

SF: I love to paint.

DP: Do you keep a journal? 

SF: Yes, I have kept a journal for years.

DP: How did you celebrate the publishing of your book?

SF: I haven’t yet.

DP: If your book was made into a movie, who would play the main characters? 

SF: Tim Allen

DP: What did you enjoy most about working with Dorrance Publishing?

SF: They replied quickly.

DP: Five favorite books of all time? 

SF: The Holy Bible, Who Moved My Cheese, The Butterfly Effect, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, Same Kind of Different as Me.

DP: One sentence of advice for other writers?

SF: If you want to write, you also must read.
