The Dorrance Difference - Dorrance Publishing Company

The Dorrance Difference

After nearly 100 years, Dorrance Publishing knows a little something about the ins and outs of the industry.

It all began in 1920, when Gordon Dorrance started his own publishing company. The knowledge that we have acquired during our almost one hundred years in this industry works in an author’s favor. When you publish with Dorrance, we draw from our experience and provide you with everything you need to properly bring your book to market.

In order to make a writer’s dream a reality, we first understand that your book is just that – yours. Odds are you have a good idea of how you want it to turn out. That’s why, once you submit your completed manuscript, we will provide you with a customized proposal that is created specifically foryou.

But our personal partnership doesn’t stop there. When we start working together, you will be assigned a Project Coordinator who works as your personal liaison during your book’s production. The relationship between the author and coordinator is a special one, because it gives you, the author, an internal Dorrance advocate. Your Coordinator’s job is to make sure that the book that’s published is the book you had in mind when you first came to Dorrance.

Furthermore, we understand that you want important information about your book at your fingertips. That is why we give our authors access to our Author Resources portal. In this easy-to-use, personalized web interface, you will be able to access information about the production and promotion of your book from virtually anywhere in the world, 24/7, 365 days a year. Author Resources also puts you in contact with your Coordinator to review and approve all of your production and promotion materials.

But, if you would prefer a more traditional mode of communication via email, telephone or traditional mail to interact with your Coordinator, the choice is yours. In short, the process is about you and your book, so whatever works best for you. Dorrance is here to make this process as easy – and enjoyable – as it can be.

Our philosophy at Dorrance is simple: We believe that the freedom to publish should be available to everyone with something to communicate.

That is why we continue to inspire and help “everyday” people develop their literary pursuits through our innovative self-publishing process. In the end, it’s our commitment to using our extensive publishing industry knowledge, and our desire to have a personal partnership with our authors that truly sets Dorrance apart.
