If you send your manuscript to Dorrance, you will receive
an acknowledgment when it is received.
- It is not necessary that you obtain a copyright in advance of
sending your manuscript to us as manuscripts and unpublished works
are protected by common law and statutory law.
- Dorrance will respond with a subsidy publishing proposal and
agreement within three to four weeks.
Let us know which of our subsidy publishing programs
you wish to consider:
- Traditional Subsidy Publishing
(Book is produced and promoted, within a defined budget, as a
Dorrance title.)
- Self Publishing/Private Printing
(We manufacture a specific number of books under your imprint
to your specifications. You may perform any promotional efforts
on your own. You handle warehousing and distribution.
An additional, unique Dorrance option allows you to select our
Private Promotion Option.
Under this program, we implement the standard promotion performed
for Dorrance subsidy titles. You handle warehousing and all aspects
of distribution.)
Our traditional subsidy publishing program includes
the following:
- Mechanical editing of your manuscript.
- Typesetting and design of the finished text.
- Creating original artwork and design for the cover.
- Printing and binding of the book.
- Copyrighting the finished book in your name.
- Implementing a specified, limited promotion plan.
- Warehousing your finished books.
- Shipping books ordered to bookstores, wholesalers, and other
customers.
- Handling invoicing and collections to bookstores, wholesalers,
and other customers as well as accounting for inventory, books
sold, returns, and author payments.
- Obligation to go back to press if and when the initial supply
of bound and unbound books is depleted and as often as demand
dictates during the term of our contract, at no additional cost.
Our self-publishing/private printing program includes
the following services:
- Mechanical editing of your manuscript.
- Typesetting and design of the finished text.
- Creating of original artwork and design for the cover.
- Printing and binding of the book.
- Copyrighting the finished book in your name.
- Private Promotion Option.
